ABS sensor question

My ABS light came on. I took the car to a very decent VW/Audi shop. I was told that the rear left ABS sensor need to be replaced. Wanted to save a few bucks. I brought the car back and ordered the sensor. Yestoday, the sensor arrived. I measured the resistance between the two wires for both the new and the old sensors. They are the same ~ 1800 Ohm.
I remamber having read from the forum that a failed sensor should have very different resistance between the two wires. Now, I am in doudt if the old sensor has really failed, and I did not rush to install the new one. But I don't find any other reason to not believe the very reputated shop. Is it possible that a failed ABS sensor has the same resistance as a good one?
I checked part numbers of the new and the old ones. They are the same.
Thanks

If I understand correctly, rear side is the driver side. If the module is broken. I think I should not be directed to a particular sensor. I have erased the code several times and the same code always come again in within one minute of driving (ABS light on).

But it was the front right sensor. I took off the wheel and found that the sensor wire was torn. I reconnected and fixed the wire and the ABS light went off and the ABS worked again.
