AC Fan Clutch, how hard to replace?
Seaching didn't help me find the answer, sorry if I missed a thread somewhere.
AC fan clutch is frozen according to the dealership, they want $500.
Is this a 'remove the whole front' of my car kinda job? Anyone know?
2001 A4 2.8 Q, manual trans.
Thanks A4 brothas!

Looks like I stumped everyone.
Too late, had the dealer do it.
Turns out the clutch on the A/C fan locked-up, was driving around with it spinning all the time... it was pretty loud at 75 mph. Needed a fan too (missing a blade).
Total $650... $450 for parts.

I've replaced the fan without putting the front end in "service lock position". It's tight but not too much trouble. I didn't replace the fan clutch but I don't see why you couldn't after removing the fan.
