im having problems with my AC. It works but it just blows hot air and since its been more 90 degrees, i cant take it anymore. I did a little search and i am guessing that i need to charge my AC. It blows hot air during the day but when i use it at night it takes a little while but it cools fine.
My question is, is it a good a idea to have the dealer charge it up and hopefully that is the only problem? and is it expensive?I am most likely going to take it to an independant shop because its probably cheaper. Also do i need to Add freon? I am not sure how the AC system works so if anyone can fill my in it would be great.
TIA

when you turn your ac on and off can you hear the motor changing rpm?
if there is no wierd noise comming from engine and ac is only blowing hot air, just a charge would be fine.
Take to a place that only works with a/c for cars.

i quoted for 55 dollars at Avis Lube to get it charged for one pound of freon. Then 35 dollars for every other pound. Also i do not hear any wierd noises coming from the engine when the AC changes RPM(thank god). thanks for the Help.
