Adding keylock switch to disable front passenger airbag ?
Elsawin describes you may add a keylock in the glovebox (that acts as a switch) to disable the front passenger airbag.
I own a 2000 S4 (8DzY model) and in Europe, this is very common putting child seat in front passenger seat (back facing the road).
Unfortunately, the description in Elsawin is short and drawings are not explicit.
Is there any write-up somewhere ? Such mod is described nowhere (audiworld, audizine, ...)
I suppose a connector is available by default behind the glovebox but I didn't find it last time I looked for it.

The switch is configurable for sure:
Coding
0?x0x: Passenger Airbag Key Switch
0 = Passenger Airbag Key Switch not installed
1 = Passenger Airbag Key Switch installed

It's fairly easy. In my face-lift A4 the wiring was already present.
The connector is a small (4p?) black one which was taped against the mid part of the dashboard.
If you want to install the switch you'll get an extra box (with the switch) in the top left of the glove box.
I've installed it somewhere else because I didn't wanted to loose space in the small glove box. The best position was on the left side of the glove box, at the place where the door of the glove box sits when it's closed. When closed you can't see the switch, but it doesn't take any space in the glove box.
The back side of the switch just fits between the glove box and the metal support of the dashboard.
To be able to switch the airbag off you'll need to add a control light in the
front interior light unit. The connection was already present, but you need a new unit with a "airbag off" light. (or load the connection with a resistor to simulate a light bulb...)
If this light is not present you'll get an airbag fault.
Then recode the airbag module as described above and you're done.
