Default Advice on which 1.8t to shop for

I'm in the market for a B5 or B6 A4, Quattro, Manual, 1.8t. The question is whether or not there are certain years to avoid or specifically seek out.

Reliability is my first priority, with power and modifyability a close second.

I'm assuming a 2001 would be good due being the last year of the B5 A4, but maybe the 2002 is better??? Enlighten me please.

TIA,

Default 1999.5 for a B5. you get all of the body/interior updates from the MY2000 and MY2001

*edit* supposedly, the AEB has more power potential AND you don't have to deal with DBW crap.

However, the B6 cars are making some damn good power with revo software + eliminator kits.

I would get a late B6 with a 6-spd were I to get a b6, and if I ever get another B5 A4, it'll be another 99.5

How do I tell from 99 or 99.5? The late model B6's are more than I'm looking to spend.

Also used as nDBW (non-drive by wire).

So the AEB block handles more power? Is 99.5 that much better than 00-01 for tuning potential?
