Default Advice: Any one have persistant problem with car and dealer unable to fix....

My other half has 98 A4. Sunroof opens and closes by itself. Dealer has replaced entire frameset and switches numerous times since about first 5k miles. Car is now out of warranty (36K miles). Service Manager continues to try replacement parts but to no avail (at no charge, free rental car; no out of pocket $$... just a big hassle). Anyone with similar "unresolved" issue know what process can be taken to escalate? TIA

Default I have heard of this before

If i remember, they had to replace the motor, it wasn't actually the switch, there was a short leading up to the motor

Default Check your state's lemon laws....

In Ga, if the dealer can't repair the same problem after 3 tries, the manufacturer has to replace the car, or refund money. A co-worker got his VW beatle replaced that way. But the law varies from state to state.

Are you sure your warranty runs out at 36K?

Sounds about right, these silly cars and their reliance on electronics..

Default I once had a ford

and it was a utter piece of crap.. but anyway -- once to get it repaired, i called Ford and they sent someone from their regional office to look at it.
audi does a simular thing -- a AoA rep will visit the dealership every once and a while, call and find out when, and have him look at your car - if they give you any crap, call AoA.
