I have been researching this timing belt issue for a while. I have found several places that sell after market timing belt kits for much cheaper than Audi is selling. (265 + tax) I want to save $$$ without sacrificing quality, or run the risk of having somehting go wrong as a result. I have found several kits from as little as $109 (ECS) to mid priced $139 (german auto parts.com) to expensive $240 (alloem audi parts.com) etc... all of which claim to carry the updated timng belt kit without the problematic tensioner and new belt with the additional tooth. I was wondering if anyone has bought these aftermarket kits and had either any sucess or problems... If so which brand did you choose. Thanks for any input on this...
On that note about about the belt with the extra tooth I recieved an email from a tuner telling me it didn't matter which belt I used (152 or 153) because he stated that either belt would not change the ratios at which the cams and crank turn. Can anyone confirm this...
Thanks again
