Default air filters/intakes

I have a 1996 2.8L A4 quattro. I was wondering what you guys suggest for best performance.

A new K&N air filter, or a LLTEK (www.lltek.com) cold air intake system. Whats the advantage for either? Thank you,
Rob

Default for the 2.8 you might just want a drop-in K&N...

i don't believe you will see a power increase from intake, maybe some sound difference though. for my 1.8t, i bought the intake so i could the get the psht bov noise, that's it =D

I recommend the LLtek kit, drop-in is a waste of money.....I've tried both

Default you LIE!...

nah, just playing bro. heh, i should have added an IMHO on my post, cuz obviously i have no personal exp with it, just what i've read from here. i had tons telling me NO about intake for mine as well, but I've been 120% happy with mine. thanks for injecting your own experience all up in it.

Default lol......actually, the overall consensus seems to be that it's more effective on a 2.8 than a 1.8...

which makes sense because of the close proximity of the cone to the turbo in a 1.8.

The heat from the turbo negates any benefits you might get from the cone, in fact it hurts performance. The cone ends up sucking in lots of hot air.

Even though hot air is not as much of a problem with the 2.8, I took steps to insulate the cone from the ambient heat given off from the engine....

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/783001.phtml</a

Default you bow before me and beg me for advice.....

um did my ego just swell to abnormal proportions?

Actually I've done the intake for the 12v 2.8... the problem is that our intake manifold gets EVIL wicked HOT! See if you have a cold air intake thats GREAT if your car doesnt have an intake tract as long as your fvcking intestines!

I'm doing/making silicone intake manifold gaskets for my 12v 2.8 and I'm also porting/polishing the manifold and the throttle body. I do have a cold air intake but honestly its not a big help because the manifold just heats the air right back up
