only worth it if you get a decent compressor
without that then it is pointless and will bother you more then it helps. I have a 4.5 hp i think with 30 gallon capacity and it is fine now. I am hoping it holds up when I start painting.

well the only thing thats holding me back is the fact that ill be going back to school in the fall..
so i dont know if its worth it to spend much of my summer earnings on somthing i can only use during the summer/ christmas vacations (although i will be a junior in college this year, so in a couple years ill have them full time)...on a different note, ill be turning 21 in 3 weeks!

my opinion...
air tools are somewhat of a luxury for a home mechanic. think about when you move out after college, if you live in an apt, you wont be able to do any car work anyway. lugging around your air tools and a compressor will be a pain.
so, you should probably hold off on a big investment on air tools. its not a bad idea to have some savings in reserve for when control arms...etc...suddenly go bad on the A4.

Given the choice between spending money on air tools...
or spending that money on a good set of hand tools...I would spend the money on hand tools first. You'll get more use out of them. If you already have a comprehensive set of hand tools, then consider spending money on air tools. 99% of the time, air tools are a matter of convenience, that last 1% is necessity, but sometimes a larger breaker bar (or pipe and wrench) is a cheap substitute.

not really worth it.
dont get me wrong its really nice to have sometimes but I dont think its really worth the money.
for woodworking you'll need a really big air compressor so count on spending some $$. you should really get a 2 stage compressor for using things like grinders and wood working tools. if you have the space for it go for it. if you do take the plunge, DO NOT skimp on the compressor, you'll always wish you got a larger one.
spend a little money on a decent cordless impact gun for the car and call it a day.
