Default Alarm Module

OK, heres my nightmare, hoping someone can help me:

a lowlife stole my coat with my a4 keys (its a 96 UK spec a4 avant se with conlog audi fitted alarm). these were my only keys as i bought the car about a month ago with only one set intending to get a set cut soon. i have just paid a locksmith approved by Audi UK 250 pounds for a key. It turns on the ignition ok, and the orange light with a key symbol inside a picture of the car illuminates and then goes out. The car wont start however. It wont even initiate the starter. Nor will it operate the central locking and will only open the drivers/passengers and tailgate doors individually. The locksmiths stress that the key has been programmed satisfactorarily using an original Audi chip initially before changing to one of their own. (We have transponder keys here in the UK for this year A4).

The alarm, made by Conlog according to Audi has been discontinued and the company do not exist anymore, apparently. Audi put me in touch with a Conlog specialist (think he is an ex conlog employee or something) who is adamant that the alarm does not use an immobiliser, its only the key that does that. The locksmith are adamant that the key is fine (even though it doesnt operate the central locking like my stolen one did). The Conlog guy tells me the alarm control unit is in the lower dash on the right hand side near your feet/shins. ive read on these forums that it is integrated with the central locking pump/combo. He says it does interact with it for the remote keyless entry system, but is not the control unit. Anyone familiar with the location of this unit? Has anyone had any similar nightmares like this? great car but oh what a pain in the *** if you lose yor key!

Default Re: Alarm Module

hello,
on a 96 audi a4, the alarm is located in the trunk. It is on the right (passanger side). You have to remove the little storage box, and left up the carpet. Its hidden under carpet. It controlls your locking system and as well as the alarm. hope this help
