Default Alarm went off the other day because a car drove by, has never gone off before ? inside

my car doesnt beep when i lock the doors, when i leave the window down lock it from the outside, then reach in and open it from the inside, the alarm doesnt go off, but when i have it parked next to the street, and a car drove by, the alarm worked for the first time ever? anybody know what could be wrong with it?

thanks
andrew

Default Sounds normal

The interior sensors can be set off by the wind, but a quick reach in through an open window to unlock may not be enough to trigger it.

There's a button way down towards the floor on the driver's B pillar that disables the interior sensor. If you're gonna leave the windows down and want to lock, just hit the button when exiting the car (the light next to the lock pin on the door will light up), close the door, and lock.

The beeping (and lights flashing, etc) when locking can be turned off/on by a VAG-COM, so it may have been modified. Are you the original owner?

Default Maybe aftermarket alarms do

The stock alarm isn't sensitive enough to really detect a reach-in-and-unlock.
