All Season Tire Comparison
It's about time for new tires again, and since I may be moving next year, I' planning on putting some all seasons on my 1999 A4. I was looking at tirerack.com and comparing the Mi chelin Pilot Sport A/S and the Dunlop SP Sport 5000. The Michelins have slightly higher ratings, but are also priced at $170 as opposed to $100 for the Dunlops. Does anyone have any experience with these tires or any recommendations? Is it worth the big price difference to go for the Michelins?

The Michelins are definitely not worth 70% more.
They may be a better tire, and if so, only marginally, but certainly not twice as good. Seems like the choice is clear, if those are the only two tires you're considering.

Check out the Sumitomo HTR+'s, have em, luv em,
They are a good in the snow and wet once they're scuffed in and fairly inexpensive, around $100 for the 17x225x45.
If you just need an all season its a good choice.
I had the HTR Z's before and found them to be excellent.
