Default To all you A4.org'ers (veterans) you must be chuckling at this latest batch of quattro stories...

I'm guessing that this happens every year after the first significant snow-fall. This is my first winter in the "quattro club" and I am admittedly smitten. My wife thinks I'm insane. But that's ok with me (an her too, apparently)

Default What's interesting to me is the sheer...

number of dogmatic posts: 'The P8000e is a great winter tire and anyone who doesn't think so is a suck' or 'I've driven on snow once and I'm an instant quattro expert' or 'my yugo is better than your quattro'

There are a million different snow and ice conditions in NAmerica and let me tell you that they are rarely comparable.

Default Thats because people....

who post here have a reason to be biased. Everyone here has spent some good money on an A4,chips,tires...etc. By admitting that the car/tires/chip/turbo doesnt perform as expected or wasnt worth the money, could be like admitting a 30k mistake in some cases. Not an easy thing to do. Keeping an open mind is much harder, and so is finding people who actually know what they are talking about.

Take everything here with a grain of salt...

Default That's why I'm on my 7th Q since 1986!

Frankly, until the S4 came along I was never all that impressed with my Audi quattros (4000, Coupe Q, 90, A4) except in the winter. Nice cars, sure, but they were all underpowered. Each generation got better though -- first the 20v, then the V6 12v, then the 30v. The reason I bought all those quattros, plain and simple, was their winter driving performance. It was a trade off that I was willing to make to get a CAR (I hate trucks/SUVs) that performs in snow.

As all the regulars know, I'm a hard core preacher for the "downsize in winter" religion.

Of course, now the S4 is here and I've got it all.

Default Yeah but my Quattro IS the best...

My 2.8 is THE BEST A4 and all other A4s, even other 2.8s suck. My stock tires are DA BOMB in the worst ice ever recorded in Boston (where I live) which happens to be the BEST CITY on the planet.

Default No attitude in Boston ;0...

Not only that, but I'm the best driver on the face of the freakin' earth! I take the traffic circles at 120 in 4th, on two wheels. (exm*******)
