Default Alright, what's the problem?

Here's the situation:

1996 A4 2.8 Quattro.

Left front wheel makes a "whump whump whump" sound. Sound gets faster as the car goes faster.
Sound goes away slightly if you turn the car right. Sound goes away completely if you hit the brakes.

Is it the wheel bearing, or do I possibly have a bad rotor, or is it one of the control arms? Anybody?

bad tire, broken brake pad, bad rotor, bad bearing. In that order. Not control arm.

Oh, and bad tire could be bad balance or alignment.

Default It's not the tire, wheel or brake pad... (more)

I just had the tires changed, and it was doing it before that. I changed the brake pads too, and it was doing it before that. So, either a rotor or bearing, huh?

Default If rotor you'd feel weird brake pedal vibes. If not, guess it's bearing.

When you changed the tires, did you have them alingned and/or balanced. That could still be the problem.

You probably have a nail in your tire
