Nice job. That explains why your 30 amp draw didn't blow a fuse. Seat heaters are on a 30 amp fuse.

Just to clarify; it is the seat movement control on the side of the seat that is toast. I unplugged three connectors under the seat, and took the passenger seat out of the loop, but now I see my air bag light is on. Maybe there is a bag in the seat, and one of those connectors goes to it?

If you've got 3 plugs, you have an airbag in the seat. You can't turn out the airbag light till you plug in the little yellow one. But disconnect the battery first, just to make sure the bag doesn't go off when you do it. The one on the other side with the biggest pins in it...I think its green....is seat heater. You'll want that plugged back in pretty soon too.

Copy Thanks, and you are right about the heater!

OK...I plugged the small yellow and the green back in, but air bag light still on; not blinking, just on. So, I plugged all three in again, just to check the outcome, and the air bag light is still on. Now, I don't know if it is related to my amp draw issue with the seat, or if it is a separate problem. I will have to start a new thread for this, but I just didn't want to lose the history yet. Thanks for any input....

Once the airbag light is on, it won't go out till you reset it with VAG-COM. I had an indy Audi shop that used to reset mine for $10 till I broke down and bought my own.

Dang! That was quick, and thanks as usual. I have heard of that VAGCOM, but I don't know what that is. I guess maybe an Audi thing?

Yea it's the Audi system for talking to all the modules in the car. All dealers have it, many indy shops, and lots of us who work on our own Audi's.

Thanks, obviously I need to get one. More to follow. Cheers
I have a service manual on order, and hopefully will get it by this weekend.
