Alright so I have a 2001 A4 (sold the car in my sig) and a long with many others my airbag light is on. Vag-com reads...
1 Fault Found:
00588 - Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N95)
32-00 - Resistance too High
So I've always heard about the resistor mod so I figured I'd pick one up and it would fix it, not! So I bought a 4.7ohm 1/2 watt resistor, unplugged my battery, put the resistor in (pic below), plugged the battery back in, plugged in my vag-com and cleared the code, and two seconds later what do you know... air bag light back on, same code. Anyone have any ideas, or did I just make a stupid mistake somewhere? Anything helps, thanks guys.

the controler for the airbag is defective. The mod assumes that everything else is working properly and only the airbag is disconnected.

strapping the harnesses before the resistor? I cleaned the contacts, but that wasn't enough, I needed a cable tie or two around the harnesses for those bumpy roads (or passengers who adjust their seats too often.)

I don't know a whole lot about electronics but does that mean I was just off with the 4.7 and I need a 2.7ohm resistor? And how do I know if I need a 1/4 watt 1/2 watt etc.??
