Default another control arm question

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/25125/bolt.jpg"></center><p>
I bought upper control arms and was planning on doing the repairs myself. I cannont get this bolt off. Once I unscrew the nut the bolt hits the wall.

I don't want to take off the suspension - that means more work. I was thinking about sawing the bolt off and replacing it with another one but this time entering the other side of the hole.

Suggetions???? TIA!

Default Interesting

That's the exact c-arm that I'll have to replace real soon. Cutting the bolt would work. Hmm...I wonder if mine is like that. Good luck

Default I personally would...

compress the spring, remove the three bolts in the engine compartment, drop the strut tower down, and twist the whole assembly clockwise. I know it sounds like a lot of work but its really not that bad.

Default You have to take the suspension off sorta...

You can ubolt the whole spring assembly from the underneath side there. The only other thing you could do is undo the bolt, hacksaw it, then buy a new bolt and install the other way...

Default I would not cut the bolt, just take your time and take out ...

the strut. Oh and i don't think you have to compress the spring.

Default You dont need to compress the spring to drop the assy...

all you need to do is pull the three large bolts in the engine bay and let the suspension extend. you may need to take the lower shock bolt too to get the twist you need.

Default hmm....I replaced that arm and didn't have that problem

Looks like there is no way around it though.

If you can, cut it....much easier than taking it all apart.

When you put it back togehter, do yourself a favor and put the bolt in teh other side!

Good luck!

Default You have to drop the top mount. It's not that hard. Be very careful with the pinch bolt on the ..

knuckle, they tend to get REALLY stuck in there.

Default Take the three bolts off the top, pry down with a screw driver to break the factory hold up clip...

total added time about 5 minutes. I don't think you can cut that bolt that fast unless you have a tiny dremel with a lot of torque and a real good cutting blade

Default and another tip. When you take them out, note the angle. You have to screw the new ones back in

at the same ange if you have stock suspension or kiss them bye bye again after a few thousand miles
