Another reason to buy a Quattro Avant and not a minivan...
EAST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - A woman was killed when her minivan smashed into a gas tanker outside a Long Island gas station Monday night, police said. The crash triggered an explosion that shook houses several blocks away and shot flames more than 100 feet in the air.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, was believed to be the minivan's driver. The truck driver jumped out of his vehicle after impact and escaped serious injury, police said. No other injuries or deaths were reported.
The vehicles burst into flames, scorching nearby vehicles and buildings. Electricity poles were damaged, knocking out power in the area. By early Tuesday morning, the blaze had burned itself out.
The fire, which began at 10:45 p.m., erupted near a Sunoco station on a highway that runs along the southern edge of Long Island. The area around the station was evacuated, but residents were soon allowed back into their homes.
Residents said they heard an explosion that sounded like a plane crash and felt their houses tremble.
Part of the highway was expected to be closed until noon Tuesday, police said.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=5746">

What's the reason?
Is it so that when you have a truly bad accident, you will have spent more of your money on a vehicle before you die?
I hope you aren't implying that this accident could have been avoided merely by the presence of quattro. There's not enough info in the story to make any kind of judgement about that.
However, I agree with you... I'd rather have a quattro avant than a minivan.<p><b>Drew S.</b> <a href="http://members.aol.com/drewinva/audi/" target="drewinva"><img src="http://members.aol.com/drewinva/images/98.5.jpg" border="0" align=center></a> <b>98.5 A4 2.8 qm</b>

How is that a reason not to buy a minivan? Just drive a little more carefully.
