Any A4 owners out there regret getting Melange? (more)
I have a Melange 2.8 A4 on order. My first choice would have been Silver but I have a silver SUV and didn't want two cars the same color. Is Melange too bland-- Toyota-like? I'm having second thoughts but ordered it because it looked great on an A6 in the showroom and seems like it will be easy to keep looking clean. My parents (in their 70's) have a Mercedes in what appears to be a similar color to Melange-- should that tell me something? Any Melange owners out there? Regrets? Opinions?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I don't own it, so I'm not your ideal respondent. I considered Melange before ordering but opted against it as it's a little bland for my taste, as both an exterior and interior color. To my eye, Audi styling has a bit of an "edge" to it; that's one of the things I like about them. I don't personally feel that Melange reinforces that "edge". It's a very personal choice, and a lot of people really like the color (especially for interiors). For an A4, though, with its exceptional exterior styling, I'd personally opt for Hibiscus Red, Cactus Green, Laser Red, or Light Silver. I also like the Pelican Blue, though I'm not sure that I'd be happy with it over the long haul. Hibiscus Red with Opal Gray, Onyx, or Clay is killer.
In the end, of course, all that matters is what YOU like. Hopefully, you'll be happy with what you get.
mpuzach

I would consider the Hibiscus red with clay leather. You never see that color combo. The Melange is just to drab in my opinion. It does look great on the A6, you are right.

I had a melange 99.5 1.8T... loved it! Great color, no regrets...
if the S4 came in melange, I think I may have gotten it that way.

That colour is very very nice...
and you should enjoy it...
Each to his own I suppose. Hey, I like the casablanca white, Santorin blue, Brilliant Black and Brilliant Yellow as exterior colours for the A4. I personally woudln't choose silver (too common), cactus green (don't like it too much) or Laser Red. Hibiscus red with the clay is killer indeed though.
But as long as YOU like the coulour that's all that matters. There are a lot of people on this board who own Melange and they LOVE IT! Just wait and they will post their cars and comments!
Personally, I'd get the Melange on an A6 for sure, with the Maroon Leather Interior. Picture it!
Droooooooooooool
Enjoy your A4!

elegant
first, you're probably going to get a lot of melange owners who love it, and a lot of people who don't have it who would go another color.
i agree with the respondents so far. you seem to have two basic audi-ites - those who go for the elegant, stealth look and those who go for the more sporty styling. i personally love both melange AND the brighter colors.
silver is awesome, but so many of the a4's are silver. the brighter colors are stunning.
regarding melange, if you want a car that is elegant, then this is the choice. i don't find it bland at all. melange is refined.
finally, if you'll forgive the analogy, there is nothing sexier on a woman to me than a simple black dress, black shoes, and pearls. a melange a4 reminds me of that - elegant with the confidence not to shout it to the world.

Not a chance!

You've ordered a unique, rich color on the A4 and I know you won't regret it. Because of the A4's superior styling, IMO, melange is FAR from bland and certainly not "Toyota-like"! In fact, it's just the opposite and I like having a unique A4 color. Actually, my first choice would have been Hibiscus Red w/Ecru-Onyx Ambition but when I was ready to buy, there was only one on the lot but was a '99 and didn't have the interior I wanted. They had my current melange on the lot that had been special ordered for a customer that changed his mind and I got a hell of a deal. But melange would have been my next choice anyway and I'll never regret it. In fact I've had 4 "melange" colored cars over the years, including my last car...a '95 Accord EX 5 speed and the color is soooo easy to take care of. The bottom line is don't worry about anyone else's negative opinions. You'll be the one with it parked in your garage and your opinion is the only one that counts.
One last thought...
I can't count how many people have approached me in parking lots to comment on my car and particularly on the color & shine. Love it!
Enjoy your new A4 and when you start getting comments on the color, coupled with the driving experience, you'll have a hard time wiping the smile off your face.

Here's another one for good measure...
I loved my melange 1.8Tqts. One thing about melange other than being stunning is that you can run it through a dust field and at a glance, it still looks clean! It hides being dirty best.
