Default Any advice on getting the water pump off?

I'm in the middle of changing my timing belt and water pump and the water pump just doesn't want to come off! TIA.

Use a screwdriver and pry at the seal.

Default I had tapped at where the pulley was attached with a plastic mallet. Since the pump is being ...

replaced you could use a hammer if you wanted. I try to stay away from where the gasket is and the two surfaces mate together. More because of bad luck. If there is a chance for me to damage it chances are I can and will.

Default Thanks for your help

The gasket was just really stuck. I was able to put a screwdriver between the gasket and the water pump to pry it open.
