what are you finding to give the best result on MAF reading, some sort of air intake system like EVOMS, or simply a K&N filter and swiss cheesed airbox? This all being on a 1.8T as well.
I used to have an A4 1.8t and I used a EVOMS intake but now I am helping some friends in the tuning of their A4's and I'm curious if anyone has any data regarding this as to which actually benefits more. Any tips would be awesome. I am going out now to run some logs on it, stock other than a GIAC chip.

Others (oiled ones) are known to fry MAF's, and yield little if ANY gains. I have HKS intake on mine (previous owner) and I hate it. leave it be, the airbox/intake is one thing Audi got right the first time.

-APR turbo inlet pipe
-removed popoff valve and redirected air
203g/s with a K04 + stock exhaust + stock SMIC
up from about 193g/s with a purely stock airbox.
