any downside going with 225/55-16 tires instead of stock 205/55-16 ?

I am in the process of figuring out what my next set of tires will be on my stock sport 16in wheels. If I go with the 225/55 size is there a downside of any kind, or rather any reason not to go to the wider tire other than the slightly higher price. The wheel gap is the same, correct?
Thanks for any knowledge you take the time to share with me.

You need to try to keep the rolling diameter the same as stock. Try this URL to select the ratio that matches stock.

http://pw1.netcom.com/~sgalaba/tiresize.htm#metrictires</a

The theoretical difference in circumference is 0.1% - there are larger differences than this between brands for the same size of tire. The only warning I would give you is to keep the pressure up if you like your corners. SP8000s 225-50-16 will rub at the rear wheels on a suspension piece if you corner hard with only 32 psi. Recommend 36 psi minimum
