any ideas what this noise could be?
so when I start my car there is a continuous "screetching" noise (kind of like a bearing possibly belt). It gets a little quieter as the car warms up, but the noise stays.
I'm thinking it's the bearing on the fan. I'm going to try to take the fuse out and see if the noise goes away. anybody know which fuse?
Is this a common problem or does anybody have any other places where the sound is coming from?

did it get worse with the cold weather? maybe it's the power steering pump.
pull the serp belt and see if the noise stops.
You can use a mechanic's stethescope (or long screwdriver, or long hollow tube) to isolate the noise further.

I had the same noise years ago when I converted my fog lights to xenons...
the extra ballasts were drawing to much from my electrical system, even when they were off.......jk...haha... had to!

iirc since your noise happens at start up it's not your electric fan.....
it doesn't come on at start up in the cold. turning off the ac will insure it doesn't run with the engine cold. this sounds like a belt slipping. how long since the timing belt was done? how many miles?
