Default nothing I'm not used to...

Initially I was getting thumps every time I switched radio stations or CD tracks with this head unit. There's a tech article that mentions something about preout circuits in head units having a 'blanking transistor' that discharges and plays havoc with the Bose amp. Using a line level converter and the speaker outputs solved the problem, but I still got the thump when I power the car on or off and the radio turns on or off.

Default The constant power is what's switched to power the amp turn-on.

Are you turning on just one amp? If so, you probably don't need a relay then. One amp isn't going to overload your switched power from the fuse box.

I should have asked that before. My bad.

Default Well...

It is one amp now. Just the stock amp. I am still debating with upgrading to a new amp and component speakers, but that would still only be with one amp. Just a lot more powerful. If I would want to use a relay for an aftermarket amp, then it would make sense to do that now. Are you saying otherwise I could just go straight from the fuse or 75x post into the remote amp line?

Default If 75x is a switched source, then you should be able to, just for turning the amp on.

Even if you do a complete replacement of the stock amp with a single aftermarket amp, the new amp's remote turn-on lead will draw less than 1amp. Should be fine.

Good luck!

Default Okay cool...

I wasn't worried about drawing too much power, more worried about feeding it too much! By the way to answer your post above, unfortunately I can't take it back because it was another Ebay purchase about 18 months ago. I can live with this though, I rarely turn the head unit off and if I do, the hissing coming from the speakers is light enough that you can't hear it unless the engine is off.
