Any Leatherette alternatives for 1.8T..

...that will retain the side impact airbags in a 2001 1.8TQ? I am not a fan of the leatherette. It may look like real leather but it sure don't feel like it.
I assume that slip over seat overs are out.
Can I have the seats re-upholstered without screwing up the airbags?
Can I swap in leather seats from a 2001 2.8? Any idea how much that would cost me? Is the wiring harness in the 1.8T setup to handle the power seats from a 2.8?

a lot more durable than standard leather, however it seems as if the "breathable leather" breathes a lot better than this "breathable leatherette". I don't think it breathes at all.
