I'm going to disagree with you. You can have it fit perfect without a widebody.
One car that comes to mind is Josh Deckers car... previous owner of achtuning... it fits perfect and he has no widebody.

well it is better than what i have now seeing right now both headlight
washers are broke bumper is cracked and my fender was hit by a hit and run so this has to be better than what i have now. also with this rs4 one it comes with fogs, corner lights, washers and caps, and every thing you need.

It got sold.
Nearly 7 years of ownership, one of the most looked up to B5's ever, simply an amazing car. Everything was/is just done PERFECT.
Going to a P-car owner in cali. Apparently he has prevoiusly owned a B5 S4 and has seen the track many times, so it will definitely be in good hands.

I'm pretty sure, from my days of lurking the B5S4 forums, that the RS4 will fit.
But, to do it "right" like on Josh Decker's you need to cut the bumper in half, cut out some of the middle and re-glass everything.

last i heard i dont think you glass plastic oe bumpers like the one im
looking at; the one im looking at is an actual oe rs4 bumper. but i am no body man so i couldnt tell you for sure. last time i did any body work was 10 years ago on a bug which has no plastic.
