Ok .. I have 2 12" Premiers i want to install with a 500 Watt Punch.
Where should I put the Amp ? under the seat ? In the trunk on the top ???
Well there is a pic of my box with the 12" Premiers on my site.
www.shorki.com/Audi/
Also ... shoudl I swap out the factory deck .. whick looks noice as hell but sux *** ... and put in my Premier 9000 series ? REALLY nice.
I do not have Bose .. opted not to get it because they give probs apparantly afte 1 year.
Anyhow ... suggestions please ,... oh also .. I have a 300 Watt amp .. should I use the 300 wat amp to push the mids and highs already factory speakers and 500 wat amp to push the subs ....
OR
JUST the 500 watt amp for the subs and the factory deck push the mids and highs. ???
thanx

This is a common misconception that I hear/see come up all the time. While the power handling of a speaker is "x" watts, it doesn't mean that you should only use up to an "x" watts amp to drive it. In a real world application, you should never drive your amps capacity to 10/10ths. This will invariably introduce distortion. Distortion is what will blow your speakers the most easily. The only variables that should limit your amplification power is your budget or if you compete and are restricted to a certain total wattage limit. You are actually doing yourself a favor by running a higher wattage amp at a lower level rather than a low wattage amp at full bore. You will have less distortion and heat generated and have greater dynamic headroom for demanding passages in your music. The key here is to set the gain on your amp correctly and to be cognizant of not overdriving your speakers. You will be rewarded with better sound and components that last a lot longer.
That said, I think that it is obvious that I feel that shorki should use the 300 watt amp. If it is even a mediocre quality amp it will be an improvement over the stock built in amplification. Just have a little restraint with the volume ****.
