any way to determine a car's options w/ just the VIN?

You can't find that out in my book, but other things if your car is made before 1999. I'm guessing the car in question is a 2002 A4 1.8T. I know it was made in ingolstadt not Neckarsulm.
Here is the VIN structure.
1st character = Nation of origin, 2nd and 3rd together = make, 4th = series, 5th = engine type, 6th = restraint system, 7th and 8th = model, 9th = check digit, 10th = model year (x='99), 11th = Assembly plant, 12th through 16th = Sequential production number. This is Audi exclusive, other companies use different structures. I can only decode from 1995-1999 but just about any make/model.
