Default To my knowledge, no.

Non-2000 ECU's will not work on 2000 cars
2000 Quattro ECU's will not work on 2000 FWD cars, and vice versa.
2000 Tiptronic ECU's will not work on 2000 Manual cars, and vice versa.

In other words, I believe you need an ECU from a 2000 car with the same drivetrain configuration as your car. Whether it's a sedan or Avant won't matter.

That's what "I believe".

Default Tip or manual does not matter at all

you just need to soft code it to your setup.

Default See your wrong at that. The ecu just matters if it is for that year for the 2000.

As for if it is fwd, quattro, Tip or manual does not mater since each ecu can be recoded to what your car is.

Default So are there several different boxes for 2000...

with the only difference being how the box was coded OR is there only one box for 2000?

Default Most ecu's for the 2000 1.8 are the P box and yes they can be recoded for each setup.

We even ran a tip CH box in a manual car which is a 2001 and drove it around. All it did was throw a code that it could not talk to the tip ecu. Once we recoded it the car was fine.

Yes there are 3 different ecu's for the 2000 1.8t.
