Default Any of you crazy 96-99.5 owners upgrade your cluster to the newer style?

My cluster looks like doo-doo (scratches, etc.) and I want a new look. I assume since my car is older the center display wont work (on the newer cluster). But...assuming Im cool with that, is there anything else that wont work? I think I might go for an S4 cluster...for a change of scenery in the cabin. I believe with the S4 cluster I also have to VAG it to change the RPM ratio's as well. Thoughts/ideas?

Default Well, I know 96-97 and 98.5 are completely different.

96/97 clusters have different connectors than 98.5. I don't know much other than that, perhaps 98.5 and up use the same type of connector as the S4 cluster.

Default I wish. But I bet the harness connectors are different. Also the profile is different...

There's highline and lowline versions of the cluster. I have a 98.0 so I'm pretty sure the S4 clusters won't fit even if the harness connectors fit.

Besides, my plastic isn't too scratched up and my trip computer LCD is still sexy.

Default My bro has an S4 cluster in his A4 and Speed-O sticks from time...

to time but thats only issue. It just reads your speed at a little bit of a delay. No problem. Probably should watch the road though.

Default Newer cluster blows....it's not all red like 99.5 and earlier . . .

It's got a lot of "Honda White(tm)". I wouldn't change it because my guess is it won't be worth the effort.

Default

x2-99.5 red looks awesome. friends 01 looks 'normal'. All red reserved for S4 after 99.5 I guess.

Default I have an S4 cluster in my car, and it doesn't stick at all.

I re-coded it for a 4 cyl to make it with my 1.8t.

I'm not a poser, and I didn't buy it for the S4 logo; i don't even have any S4 body parts on my car. I just wanted to replace my cluster-poxed display, and I liked the white needle with red background gauge look, so I grabbed an S4 cluster.

Default Why not buy a fresh reman cluster?

Get the one for your car with the driver info display. Code it correctly for your configuration and naturally have the odometer set properly.

Default Thought about it for sure. Cost would most likely play a factor for me.

Let me know if you do
