I just did the rotation...and I got a very loud tire tread noise from the front tires. (BTW, they are the 245/45/17 Pirelli P7000SS tires). Could it be that the 1.5 degrees of negative camber in the front doesn't like the new found tread? FYI, the inside edge of the tires I just moved to the rear, was significantly worn.<p>Any ideas?<p>Steve S.<br>97 2.8QM

I got the same problem when i got the rotation done (front to back and back to front). All i could find out was because these tires are low profile, which means that they pick up road noise more easily, so even a slightest of irreularity (which might have developed when the tire was on the back) will be amplified when on the front. Since my tires were almost worn out i got new ones. But the dealership people said that if you drive it for 1000 - 2000 miles the tire will get regualr and thus the noise will go away. I was very surprised to find out that Audi recommends tire rotation, as both Volvo and BMW (I've owned a couple of each) warn against it on the grounds that it screws up the handling. BMW says that, if you insist on rotating the tires (so they will last longer), you should do it at least every 3000 miles.<p>I'll see what happens at 5000 miles when my dealer rotates my tires...<p>Roger C.<br>99 1.8TQMS

I had problem with my Porsche 924S when I went from 195/65/15 to 205/55/15... It was due to the added tire width and OEM suspension geometry - no alignment was done. I think such is your case here... going to a wider width. It will keep wearing out the inside edge (quite quickly I may add - $$$). I would suggest you either get the front end realigned with those tires, or switch back to the 225/45/17s and sell the remaining pair.<p>Good luck... <p>Cris<br>
