anybody have this issue with their brakes when they cold-start the car?

more often, my car is having the issue of the brakes not being responsive at cold-start. Specifically, when I start up the car and start backing out of the garage, down the driveway, the brakes won't register unless I'm slamming on them, and even then the car continues to roll.
Am I not giving the car enough time to warm up? I got the brake pads replaced less than 6 months ago, and got the rotors evened out at the same time.
It's a 2001, should this be happening? take it in to the dealership?
Thanks guys,
Nick

When the car is cold, step hard on the brake (when car is not moving), and see if it feels soft. Step as hard as you can, and see if it gives after a minute or so.
If it feels mushy, or gives after you held it down hard, there may be a problem in the lines or the resevior.
I think this info is correct, but I am no expert, wait to see what other peep say.

If you're in the 30-40k mile range, still on the original rotors and haven't flushed the fluid... I would think you need new rotors and the fluid flushed.
If the car was purchased more than 2 years ago and still under 50k, you get the brake fluid flushed and filled under warranty. Rotors and pads are covered up to 4/50k.
This is why I don't like replacing just pads. The thinkness of the rotors is just as important.
