You really should do something about that first. You'll get alot more added performance for the money. Wheels second. Or, if you can afford it, both at the same time!

he actually has a small family of wildlife that have made a home in his wheel gap. this is with 17" wheels.

suspension will do wonders for your handleing whereas 18" wheels will just give you wheels that bend easily and are heavy (but look cool) they will also give you less sidewall, which will slightly improve the cars reaction, but nothing like suspension.. just my thoughts --
