take a card (i used a safeway club card because it was really hard). insert the card between the car and the side marker (from the front of the car), just keep on pushing towards the rear of the car, and they would pop right out.
well, that's for the 'round' sidemarkers atleast

for the square type side marker.
Use the corner of a credit card and push it between the marker lens and the body (avoid scratching the car by placing a towel close to the edge of the marker).
The key is to insert the credit card at the right location. On the marker light you will see a small dot or dimple on the center of one of the four sides. This is the side where you need to insert the card - push into it hard as the plastic tab you need to depress is quite hard. It'll pop out once it's depressed enough.

Call me crazy but I waxed the area around the side marker once I had it out.
