i just got my APR 1.0 bar v3.0 chip and got the free ECMS on-the-fly-switching between stock, chipped & valet modes. APR claims that the dealer cannot detect the chip unless they drove it in chip mode and/or opened the ecu unit. I figure all i need to do is switch to stock mode before bringing it into the dealer for service. anyone ever had their warranty denied cuz of being chipped? I'm up for my 20,000 mile maintainence. btw.. the chip is working fine. my previous post of the "CLUNK" noise seems to disappear when i run in TIP mode.

I have the APR exhaust and liscense plate frame so the dealer should be suspiscious. Actually, I went to a different dealer for my last service so I've een to 2 dealers for service since being chipped. Both times I had the chip in stock mode and had the exhaust too. I didn't have any problems...no questions or anything. Don't worry...they have no reason to look at your ecu.

Your dealer has no right to deny you of your normal maintenance because you have aftermarket modifications.
Warranty repair work is an entirely different story. We all have read many, many posts about this subject and it seems that the majority of dealers will do work on your car under the warranty as long as you are not a jack-*** about it.
I was at a dealership for a quattro club meeting. An organization had their heavily modified S4 in the dealership's garage. Their were APR and UUC stickers all over the car (in the window, etc.) and the guys said the dealership (my dealership) was totally OK with it. This dealership knows everything that is in the car -- they installed the entire APR exhaust, and then went back in to remove the cats. ALBEIT, they "said" they would not be OK with it the moment AoA started denying the reimbursements for the warranty work.
So as long as you don't blow through a turbo every year, or treat your car like a Reliant K, you should be fine.
