Just curious if it is worth flying or should I drive? I could always take the cat ferry from Bar Harbor ME to Yarmouth. How long of a drive? I don't quite believe the numbers from mapquest.

I've done it. I went to school in Halifax...
Just moved to Chicago from there a year ago.
Anyway - my ex-GF and I did a road trip a couple summers ago from Halifax - Montreal - Toronto - Chicago - Boston - Halifax. The Boston - Halifax part isn't too bad. The cat ferry is crazy quick.
If I remember correctly it took us about 7 hours driving time, plus ferry. MS Mappoint just gave me a total of 8 hours.
What are you going to Hali for?

Halifax is AWESOME in the summer - I highly recommend you do it.
Try to hit some of the beaches nearby too - they actually have some really nice white sand beaches there.
And if you surf there's some good surfing too.
