Default Anyone ever get the fault code: 17968 ?

I stayed in to night because I want to hit up the Jay Peak Audi day tomorrow. I was just sitting around so I thought I would do some VAG logs. Before I headed out I cleared the fault codes. One of the codes I found was:

17968 - Maximum Engine Speed Exceeded (Engine Warranty VOID! :-)
P1560 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Ive never seen anything posted about this before. Does anyone know what the "Maximum Engine Speed" is? Is this code for exceeding a specific vehical speed(MPH)? I know I hit 5000 RPMs in 5th gear a week ago (please no flames, it was late and on an empty road). OR is this just a code you get if you over rev your motor?

Im thinking its the latter.

Default You over-revved the engine at some point.

5K rpms is fine...that didn't do it. You went past 7200 rpms at some point I suspect. Just clear the code, and you'll be fine. That quote "warranty VOID", is just a scary little phrase that the programmer of your software threw in...for fun. Still, don't make a habit of sending the car past redline.

Default Haha, My point was that I hit 5k in 5th gear which has got to be about 115 mph

I though that if the code was for exceeding a certian speed, this might have done it. I have been faster and not got a code, so that's why I ruled out my first hypothesis.

No, I didn't think that 5k would be "overreving".

Default Has anyone else test-driven the car (including your mech)?

1st gear is exceedingly easy to hit the rev limiter.

Also, with the aftermarket programming, rev limiter has been lifted. I'm not sure whether the threshold to throw the code has also been lifted. Try searching...I think it's been posted before.

Default If the threshold is over 7k I could have exceeded it.

I dont make a habit of doing it but I did get over 7k rpms last week.
