Default anyone ever had the head cylnder gasket replaced?

i have a 2001 1.8T. is this serious? i had this part replaced two times during the two years i've had the car. the oil is leaking from the same place again and will need to be replaced for the third time! this is becoming too regular.

my warranty will expire soon and if it's going to continue past my warranty, it'll become a routine that's going to make me a very poor man.

i don't drive particularly hard or aggressive except when passing or merging on highways. i'm losing faith in audi and the 1.8t engine.

Default The HEAD gasket, or the valve cover gasket? I would think that replacing a head gasket twice in...

as many years is not a good thing. The head gasket sits between the block and the head, it's job is to seal the 2 and keep all of the cylinder compression and combustion in, as well as the coolant and oil away from each other. If this goes, bad things can happen.

Now, if you mean valve cover gasket, that's totally different. This is just a rubber gasket, and not a huge problem, just messy.

Default valve cover gasket.

i checked the invoice again and it was the valve cover gasket. it may have been the valve cover gasket for the last repair but i have to check to be sure. i must've had it confused when i saw removal and installation of the head cylinder and head cylinder gasket. sorry.

this repair was done just recently and is now leaking again. that is the frustrating part.

thanks for the quick response kris!

Default Gasket sealant

I'd suggest some gasket sealant. Its a grey looking puddy that hardens into gasket like material. $3 a tube. Just squirt it on the trouble spot when you replace it next time.

Default

It could be that you have a bad valve cover (warped) but I think that they all leak a little...
