When I start the car up, I hear a distinct scraping sound coming from under the hood (front passenger side of compartment). It lasts a second until the A/C engages, then it disappears. If I hit the ECON, I can hear it again, but it is much quieter. Once the car is warmed up, the sound seems to go away almost completely. At first I thought it was an accesory bearing, but I can't imagine why it would quiet down. Also, I've checked oil levels, and their is no abnormal temperatures or check engine lights to clue me in. Any thoughts?
I'm going to be tearing the front down shortly to change the timing belt, and if this it is something I can fix, I'd prefer to do so rather than have a shop tear it down a second time.
