And obviously, tighten it more than you did the first time. We at SFG use a breaker bar to loosen this bolt..and try to use a torque wrench to tighten...when time permits. If time is tight..we tighten those caliper bolts pretty tight on both the front and the rear.

Whichever one it is, it's an issue that needs to be addressed ASAP. My point is, if it's the caliper bolts, they don't need a lot of torque. If it's the carrier bolt, they need a good amount of torque, however I would emphasize your suggestion to use a torque wrench. If you over torque it, you may find yourself up the creek at the next rotor swap. Allen head bolts are notoriously easy to strip out...especially if someone has overtorqued them.

I momentarily forgot about the allen wrench aspect of the A4 brakes. Wait..isn't it a 11mm and 15mm wrench that is needed on the back? I am confusing stuff since I did my sisters Jetta on the same day as I did some A4 brakes. The Jetta had the allen wrenches...the A4..if I remember correctly...didn't (in the rear).

You need a 15mm wrench to counterhold in order to get the caliper bolts off.
The carrier has an 8mm? allen head fitting.
I haven't even looked at my S to see what the story is. I'm assuming it's the same set up as the A4.
