Anyone had the "Free" LATCH upgrade for the child seat?

Anyone had the "Free" LATCH upgrade for the child seat?
From my search it appears that they will add the kit for free. 2nd kid is on the way. When you use the latch system in an A4 are the seats centered over the 1-2 and 2-3 seating positions? I would like to have a little crumple zone on each side. I do not want either of the seats up against the door. The rear seat will be for child seats only for now on. Thanks.

I have not had it done
but I would assume that the LATCH hardware lines up with the outer seat cushions (it does on my wife's '03 Protege). The way the A4 rear cushions are designed, if you were to put the seats slightly inboard, they would be fairly tilted to the side - not a good idea. FWIW, a Mighty-Tite does an awesome job of securing child seats when used properly with the safety belts (we both have two).

They claim they had to send the car to an upholstery shop to have a steel frame inserted into the rear seat back. Regretfully, when the car was returned to me, there were two square holes in the rear seat back (the portion that faces the luggage area) that were not there when I took the car in. There's a recessed steel plate in each one.
The "service advisor" denied that his workers had made these square holes in the seat. Quite frankly, they don't bother me, but it did bother me that the dealer tried to convince me they were there before I let them do the work. And it bothered me that the dealer didn't mention I'd get a swiss cheese back.
All attempts at follow up with the dealer met with complete stonewalling. I thought at the very least there should be a carpet or plastic plug (matching the carpet color) to shove into those recessed areas.
I am pleased to have the rear anchor for the child seat, regardless. It is a very secure rear anchor point -- and in a wagon, that means a lot to me.

Re: Was that the LATCH system upgrade or just rear anchors?
I'm guessing just the rear anchors, because the only thing in the car that wasn't there before is two anchors on the floor of the cargo area.
