Just finished reading Road and Track's test of the New Beetle with the 1.8T... 0-60 well under eight seconds. I imagine the A4 1.8T FWD should post similar times... a helluva performance buy. I'm not totally sold on Quattro and think a lighter, more responsive FWD car would probably be more fun to drive 99.9% of the time. With Bridgestone Blizzaks, should be fine in the snow... and I should be able to get a car for under $25,000. Anyone out there have a Frontrak 1.8T, and what can you tell me about it?

You are right. The car is much lighter and feels much more responsive to the pedal. 0-60 runs are a bit faster. While you lose a bit of the tied down feeling of the quattro, the fwd car is a bit more challenging to drive at the limit, but it may be a bit more fun too. While I would buy the Quattro if I could..if the fwd is all you can afford, then don't worry. It is all in all still an Audi and you will have much much fun with it.

Hey I got one too! It's ironic that such a good handling front drive car is mostly sold in another configuration. Without the Passat this new front suspension design would not get any recognition; The quattro system hogs the limelight. I don't have any regrets for not getting quattro except for one, resale value!
