Default While you are discussing Southbend. I have figured out what is wrong with my car. Previous post

about clutch issues and about the car being towed. The tranny is out and it appears that my southbend stage III clutch has come apart. The surface of the clutch has come undone from the rest of the clutch. Some sort of organic compound, my mechanic called Andy at southbend and spoke with him about it. Mechanic sent out the damaged clutch today and southbend should have it by monday. They said they might be able to warranty the item even though I did not purchase the clutch and it was not installed by the shop my car is at. So at least they are trying really hard to stand behind their product. I will let everyone know what, if anything, they are willing to do help resolve situation.. Clutch was installed correctly and somehow clutch surface is fine, but material beneath it is no good. Hopefully they will reman it and send it back for little if any charge.

Default I had a problem and bad experience

i had a problem i am on my third clutch first was ofe replacing stock with resurfaced flywheel. This lasted 10000 until the organic surface fell apart. Southbend replaced it but i had to eat the cost of the labor. Now similar problem cluch is not releasing and is making a grinding noise again. I am sure its the facing, i went with stage 4 the second tiem because i thought the quatro would need the higher holding capictiy i have a k04. Big mistake the stage 4 is a very stiff peddal and did not improve the situation. I am going to have it torn apart this weeek and will report back on my third labor cost for a clutch replacement in 1 year.

very firm pedal, very grabby and it makes some noise but I dont care about that.

the actual action of the clutch itself is fine...it's the "feel" on your foot that's funky
