Default Anyone have comments on the Throw Out Bearing?

Apparently the latest one made by Sachs has a plastic face on it. I don't see how that can be good.

On the plus side its only about 22 bucks.

034motorsport now sells an older style Sachs release bearing that has a metal face, but its almost $60

Centerforce also makes a release bearing, they say its auto-alinging and auto-centering or something.

Wonder which I should go with, I don't want to have to drop the transmission ever again.

On a side note...my car may not be running but I put a euro plate on and it looks sweet!

Default AFAIK, all the newer cars use the gf parts. My 99.5 did and the S4 part is common to the A4 so ...

Not only was that six speed's bearing rusted on the surface .. there was a deep groove warn into the flat. The plastic bearing I pulled from my 5 speed looked like new. I'm a firm believer in replacing the realse bearing anytime you're 'in there' so I bought a new one for the 6 speed.
