Default Personally i would not upgrade to the samco hose. However the neuspeed...

I have been running the neuspped up-pipe for about 6 months now and i love it. Much quicker the throttle response. The measurements for the samco comapred to stock are the exact same. The samco however is thicker and more durable. But the neuspped is actually bigger. It pushes the fitment issues to the limit and is very close (but not) touching its sourrounding components (front bumper, turbo hoses, etc)
Overall i am extremely please. If you have some extra money and are in dieing need of a mod, i would do it.

Heres pics for compareison:

Neuspeed being of the left, samco in middle and stock on right.

Default did you notice an improvement with the hard pipe over the Samco?

I was thinking about getting an ATP pipe as well. I noticed that when you first installed it you said you had problems with fitting it behind the headlight. Have they rectified this issue or did you just force it?

Default considering the options...

The ATP is hard pipe which is probably optimal. It's 259 which isn't TOO bad...

The Neuspeed one is bigger and sounds like everyone who has it is impressed, but it's $300 so that's out.

The Samco one is the same size and according to APR's site, still can collapse under high pressure. It's cheaper at 110, but I'm still looking for functionality.

The APR one looks to be the same size as well, but it's reinforced with a metal mesh so it won't collapse. It's 159 so it's a bargain, but if it's the same size as the stock one, would there be a performance gain by getting a bigger one?

Looks like it's between the APR and ATP one now...

Default the neuspeed is only $10 more

the apr is great if you are sticking with the k03/k04 and definitely will not collapse. and during the winter season apr has a sale always.

but definitely go for a neuspeed or atp if going with a BT.

(even includes the adapter for a gtrs)

Default I never installed the Samco. More inside>

I had the ATP 3" pipe first, but it never fit properly. It was, evidently, designed for an earlier year A4 (mine is a 99.5) and did not leave enough room for the passenger side headlight. ATP didn't realize that the 99.5, with it's one piece headlight, was different until I and some others called them. They told us that a revised inlet pipe would be designed for our cars pronto. Not knowing how long that would be, I ordered the Samco hose. It was the next best solution as the Neuspeed hose wasn't even conceived yet. By the time the Samco hose arrived, ATP informed me that the new design inlet was ready, so I ordered it. I never put the Samco on because it meant an inlet reduction to the stock turbo size. I would've used it over the stock inlet if it were my only option, but with a GTRS I wanted as much flow as I could get. If you look further down my picture post, you can see the difference in diameters between the stock and GTRS inlet flanges and the installation of the revised ATP inlet pipe.

Cheers!

Jeff

Default If NOT going with a BT>>>

I do not believe that you will collapse the APR or Samco. I know they mention collapse in some of their ads, but I think the biggest benefit is a smoother and slightly more air flow over the corrugated OEM inlet.

Default I noticed that you kept your stock airbox

Can the MAF be directly mounted to that black hose adapter that's supplied with the kit? I'm planning to run an open intake.

Default The general consensus is that the factory airbox is quite good and...

no one has shown any real gains on a B5 with any other option with maybe the exception of replacing the headlight with an air intake. I have not tried connecting the MAF sensor directly, but I do not think that it would be too difficult.

Default

You can install a larger MAF in the airbox. I believe the VR6 one is commonly used.

Default i'm going to put a velocity stack on

the general concensus here is that teh stock airbox is good, but that's because people aren't pushing enough air into their system with a regular intake. The velocity stack will increase the airflow which is the goal of an intake anyway.

Quick Reply: Anyone have info on the Samco turbo inlet hose?
