Anyone install a clutch kit on the 1.8T's.....
Is there a write up anywhere about installing a clutch on the 1.8T's. I tried searching the database, and came up with jack ****.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I found out that a dealer charges 10 hours labour!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Paul

I don't think it's so bad if you have the use of a lift(going to be putting another in Gjaime's car
this week.)If you're doing it on the ground,it'll suck. A trans jack would be a big help if that's the case.

Re: says a prayer for you and your next of kin ;-P
Thanks,
I'll need it!!!!!
The guy I will be installing the clutch with has done hundreds of clutches........but not in an A4.
Nevertheless, It'll be a (long) learning experience for the both of us!
I'll let you guys know when the job is complete, and how many srapes and scratches were suffered on our hands.

I heard you have to take apart the exhaust,turbo,quattro,etc....
I'm still waiting for a friend to let me borrow his Bentley Manual to see what exactly is involved.

No, you just drop the exhaust, which is easy on a lift, and remove the driveshafts from the tranny, and that's just removing some bolts. You don't mess with the turbo or anything. As long as you have a lift and someone with decent mechanical skills it will not be too hard, just time consuming.

It should never take a dealer mechanic 10 hours.
They may charge you that from a book rate, but a pretty good mechanic can do it in half that time. Even an average mechanic should be able to do it in 6-7 hours assuming there are no issues.
