anyone know if i can do damage to my engine with performance pulleys?

I've had pulleys on a few cars I have owned and never had a problem. My last car (Acura Integra GSR) had unorthodox racing pulleys and they worked out great. Some people say the pulleys can mess the engine, but I've never seen it or heard of it. Driving the hell out of your car is what's going to mess up the engine.
