No, sorry I didn't ask .... I did ask for clarification about the early M1 filters that leaked ...

... from a few years ago ... the tech knew exactly what I was talking about and said that was from circa 2004 and is no longer an issue.

Those cases would be when the filter would be plugged. It's a fail safe as possible.

No, you can go into bypass on very cold start with a clean filter. It also acts as a shock absorber

under pressure spikes, afaik.
