Is 60k high mileage for a turbo upgrade?

Default Basically...

The motor had high miles, and was extremely beat on... not to mention the driver accidently BURIED the tach...

Tony and Jeremy@PES are currently building that customer a custom 2.0 motor with all forged internals... and some other crazy stuff that cannot be mentioned.

I have the kit which was installed at PES's PA facility... and the thing is awesome...

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1049210.phtml

Default I know people who have turboed 1.8's with 100k on them...no problem.

They were Miata engines, but both engines are 1.8's designed for FI.

Treatment of an engine is always most important. Id take a well cared for, properly lubed engine with 60k on it over a 30k engine that has been abused anyday.

Cheers

Default Word has it that there are several. Whether any or all are kit related is a question.

I was told PES detected an old hairline crack near the failure point on Ryan's block. As to the others it appears to be very hush hush so there is no way of telling if there is any causal relation to the kit.
It would be nice if folks would speak up if not related so the kit could be absolved.
One thing is for sure ... install ANYONE'S big turbo kit poorly and you are likely to have real issues.

Agree with that. It's all about treating them right.
