Is anyone running a K04 without K04 software?

I ran my K04 with APR K03 software for several months, no problems
You don't get the performance, but the car runs fine. I only run 93 octane, so I personally didn't have any pinging or fuel issues, but as I understand it without the proper software you could run a bit lean.

Same here and i did notice a difference with the turbo upgrade,
but I think it may have been running a little lean because once i got the giac chip there was much less turbo glow

I have been for 8 months. MTM stage 2 with a K04.
I blew up the original turbo. I wanted something more durable on the track and planned on going stage three eventually, so I replaced it with a K04. The good: nice top end, doesn't get *quite* as hot, and lower intake temps. The bad: more lag.
FWIW, I've only ridden in one GIAC K04 car and my car felt just as fast, if not faster.
